Bookkeeping is usually the first role companies hand over, and the easiest to get right.

The work

What a remote bookkeeper takes off your plate.

Start with the recurring work that has a right answer. Judgement calls can stay with your accountant.

Reconciliations

Bank, credit card and payment gateway reconciliations kept current rather than done in a panic at quarter end.

Accounts payable

Supplier bills entered and coded, approvals chased, payment runs prepared for you to release.

Accounts receivable

Invoices raised on time, statements sent, and the polite persistent follow-up that actually gets you paid.

Month-end preparation

Schedules prepared, accruals and prepayments drafted, and a clean file handed to your accountant instead of a shoebox.

Payroll preparation

Timesheets collected and checked, payroll drafted for your approval, and the records kept where your accountant can find them.

Reporting and trackers

The weekly cash position, the debtor list and the management reports you keep meaning to build, kept up to date.

Software

We test for the system you actually use.

Tell us your stack and we test for it before anyone starts with you. If you use something unusual, say so: our people learn tools quickly, but we would rather start with someone who already knows yours.

Choosing a country

Which country for bookkeeping and accounts?

Finance work is less accent-sensitive than support or sales, so the choice comes down to the hours you need covered, the accounting practice you work to, and cost.

The Philippines
Our usual answer for finance roles

A deep pool of Filipino accounts staff trained in Australian, Singaporean and UK accounting practice, many with years of experience working directly for firms in those markets. The working day covers APAC hours.

Be honest with yourself

What to hand over, and what to keep.

Hand this over

Right for a remote bookkeeper

Recurring transactional work with a correct answer
Reconciliations, data entry, coding and chasing
Preparing things for someone else to approve
Keeping reports and trackers current
Keep this

Still needs your accountant

Tax advice and statutory filings in your country
Signing off the statutory accounts
Judgement calls on treatment and policy
Releasing payments and approving payroll

The finance roles that work best are bookkeepers working underneath an accountant, not instead of one.

Questions

Outsourcing bookkeeping: your questions answered.

Myanmar is where we would start on value: university-educated finance people, careful work and very low turnover, in the Singapore working day. The Philippines has the deepest pool and the most experience of Australian, Singaporean and UK accounting practice. South Africa suits you better if you need UK or European hours and a lot of direct contact with your clients or suppliers by phone.
Yes. The difference matters: a bookkeeper records and reconciles, while an accountant interprets and advises. We staff both, and qualified accountants cost more. Most clients find a remote bookkeeper under their existing accountant is the better value, because it frees the expensive person for the advisory work only they can do.
We test for the specific software you use before anyone starts with you, so yes, if Xero is what you asked for. Tell us the whole stack, including the small tools, and we test for those too.
No, and you should be wary of anyone who says otherwise. Statutory filings and tax advice belong with a qualified accountant in your own country. A remote bookkeeper prepares clean books so that work is quicker and cheaper.
Your bookkeeper prepares payment runs and you release them. They never need authority to move your money, and we would advise against giving it.
NDAs and intellectual property terms are signed before day one. Beyond that, the practical controls are yours: named user accounts with appropriate permissions rather than shared logins, and approval limits in your accounting system.
Yours. The Philippines is two to three hours behind Australian eastern time and the same as Singapore, so the overlap is almost complete. UK hours are possible with an early or late shift, and we are honest about which roles that suits.
It depends on their experience and the arrangement. Tell us the role and we will send a full written quote, usually the same working day, with every line itemised.
We assign a different team member free of charge within the first three months, and help with the handover at no charge so your month-end does not slip.

Rather talk it through?

Tell us the role and the hours you need covered. We will come back with a straight answer, usually the same working day.
